Cambridge YLE is a series of fun and motivating English Language assessment for children. The assessment is a perfect way for children to gain confidence and improve their English. It provides three levels of English assessments: Starters, Movers and Flyers, for children of different English language abilities.
The assessment is made up of three papers (listening, reading and writing and speaking) designed to encourage and motivate young learners.
There is no pass or fail for this assessment. All children taking the exam will receive a certificate which shows how many shields they have achieved. The maximum score is five shields for each part of the assessment, adding up to maximum of 15 shields.
Five shields show that a child did very well for that paper and answered most questions correct. Three shields show that a child is able to answer many questions. A result of one shield shows that a child has room for improvement in that area.
If children achieve a total of 10 shields or more, children should be ready to prepare for the next level of assessment.
