Many parents are familiar with YLE (Starters, Movers and Flyers) but may not know how their children can further their English studies after completing the YLE. In fact, Cambridge English offers a series of courses for students of different ages and levels. Cambridge English KET and PET are good choices to strengthen the ability of listening, speaking, reading and writing after completing the YLE Flyers level.
Students can start the KET course in the fifth grade of primary school. Generally speaking, Cambridge English KET is at A2 level of Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). Finishing the KET course means that you can use basic phrases to introduce yourself and answer basic questions, understand simple written English and interact with English speakers at a basic level.
The next level, Cambridge English PET is at B1 level of CEFR. Finishing the PET course shows that you can handle most occasions which you will encounter when you travel abroad, read simple textbooks and articles in English and write short articles on familiar subjects.
The Cambridge English structure provides a step-by-step progression which ultimately leads students to the highest level of CEFR.
